Bakrasah, The Old Kingdom
The world has changed. Legends tell that the world was once a lush and fertile land, and that it was blasted and destroyed centuries ago. Man — along with the rest of the races — now lives by his wits and luck alone.
Those same legends say that the now-fallen kingdom known as Bakrasah was part of a much greater land, that indeed, there was an entire world beyond the borders of the kingdom, full of life and civilization.
No one now living knows — or at least will admit to knowing — anything of what came before the Great Cataclysm, but one thing is sure: there were survivors. They were reduced to mere shells of men and creatures, and found that everything and everyone they had ever known was gone, in the blink of an eye. They were left to carry on as best as they could.
What society and civilization has been rebuilt is feudal and agrarian, although trade and commerce is fast gaining ground on the more traditional ways of life. Swords and sorcery, magic and machinery, all are a part of the normal pattern of existence in this war-torn and strife-riddled world.
Six hundred years have wrought great changes in the fabric of reality for the survivors, and even now further problems loom just over the horizon. Life is not easy here, though it may once have been. The races struggle and bicker, the city-states spy and plot, and everyone is looking over their shoulders
Welcome to the Old Kingdom. Welcome to Bakrasah.
