Meet the staff of Grey Gecko Press!
Jason Aydelotte
Executive Director
Jason has had many roles: office temp, stamp cutter, cheesecake maker, box builder, gym janitor, cashier, sacker, hotel front desk and night audit, retail sales and information technology to name a few. Throughout all these positions, he maintained a love for not only voracious reading, but also writing his own stories in all genres.
In May 2011, he finally finished his first novel, The Dying of the Light: End, and was faced with a choice: to seek traditional publishing or to use the new medium of self-publishing to circumvent all the rigmarole and nastiness that came with the old way of doing things. That wasn’t a choice at all, and thus Grey Gecko Press was formed. Jason’s primary responsibilities are to layout the titles for printing and ebook formats, arrange cover art, track sales data and all the other day-to-day operations of the company, as well as to insure that its guiding values of partnership with authors and innovation in the industry are maintained.
Hilary Comfort
Editor-in-Chief
Hilary Comfort received a perfect score on the English portion of the ACT and formerly ran her own proofreading and editing business called Starling’s Words. Also a writer herself, Hilary is currently working on her first novel, the dystopian/utopian thriller The Lightbringers. She has joined Grey Gecko Press specifically to serve new and emerging novelists.
Jason is fond of saying he wouldn’t be where he is without his favorite editor, Hilary. She coordinates all editing efforts within the company, keeping tabs on current projects and the teams who are working on them, when she’s not editing a manuscript herself. She also works closely with the other Directors to ensure that Grey Gecko Press stays true to its missions and values while somehow finding time to do the interior design and layout of our offices as well (though she doesn’t know that part yet).
Amy Hinojosa
Director, Community Outreach
In her position with Grey Gecko, Amy is responsible for coordinating all the company’s community involvement programs, including [1], [2] and [3], to name a few (you can find the rest on our outreach page). As well as contributing to Grey Gecko’s short story collections and working on her own books, Amy champions our goal of promoting reading and writing at all age levels, but especially in the middle- and high-school age groups. If you’d like for Grey Gecko Press to be involved in your community, please send an email to our outreach program!
Claire Hasnip
Director, Creative Development
Claire is responsible for coordinating with local writing groups and programs at all levels, including collegiate and high-school, to generate interest in writing as a potential career. She will work to develop strong ties with the local community of writers and artists, and with current and future Grey Gecko authors to insure a growth community of creativity and innovation. Know of a program in your area that could benefit from working with Grey Gecko? Send us an email!
