Texas-based Small Press’s 20th Full-Length Novel Is On the Books

Houston, TX: Grey Gecko Press, a small, independent press based in Houston and focusing on new and emerging authors, announced today that they have signed acclaimed novelist, playwright, musician, and composer George Wright Padgett to a multi-year publishing contract for a new novel entitled Cruel Devices. The new book has a current release date in the first quarter of 2015, and will be available immediately in hardcover, trade paperback, and both ebook formats (Kindle and ePub). Pre-orders will open in fall of 2014.

“The experience I had with the release of Spindown was so positive that Grey Gecko Press was naturally my first choice for this book,” said Padgett. “From the very beginning, the GGP team embraced this novel despite the story being in a different genre from what readers were accustomed to from me. The company supports and encourages it authors to stretch themselves resulting in exciting fresh stories, and it pleases me that both my first sci-fi and first horror novel are produced and distributed by the same great team.”

Some doors are not meant to be opened;
some boundaries should never be crossed;
some words should never be typed.

Renowned vampire enthusiast and horror writer Gavin Curtis is in a rut until he encounters a forbidden antique store relic; an odd mechanism that ignites boundless inspiration within him. But everything has a price, and a ruthless evil has waited a long time for someone like him to set it free.

Will Gavin forfeit this renewed muse to save those he loves, or is he truly doomed to a hell of his own making?

From acclaimed author George Wright Padgett comes a tale of horror, of inner demons, of those parts of ourselves we all hope never become real… until they do.

“We’re very excited about having George’s second novel in our catalog,” said Grey Gecko’s owner and self-styled ‘Chief Gecko,’ Jason Aydelotte. “Spindown has been such a success for us that we naturally were hoping for more great work from George, and we weren’t disappointed!”

Padgett’s debut novel, the ‘hard science fiction’ tale Spindown, was also published by Grey Gecko, in April of 2013 to near-universal positive reviews and acclaim. Spindown is available in print and ebook, as well as audiobook editions, and has been featured on numerous blogs and websites, and was a quarter-finalist in the 2013 Kindle Book Review’s “Best Indie Books” contest.
